物を回したりひねって形を変えること。また、話や状況で予想外の展開や驚くべき変化も指す。

'twist the cap'はふたをひねる、'twist your ankle'は足首をひねる、'a twist'は物語の予想外の展開。『turn』よりもねじる・ゆがめるニュアンスが強い単語です。
