Definition

“twas” 是 “it was” 的古老、诗歌化缩写，常见于诗歌、歌曲或历史文学中。

日常英语几乎不用，只在诗歌和模仿古风的文学里出现。现代英文除非模仿古诗句，否则不会用“'twas”。

'Twas a cold and windy night.

**那是**一个寒冷多风的夜晚。

'Twas the night before Christmas.

**那是**圣诞节前的夜晚。

'Twas only a dream.
