Um túnel é uma passagem longa construída debaixo da terra, através de uma colina ou sob a água para permitir a passagem de pessoas, carros, comboios ou água.

Usa-se sobretudo para uma passagem física subterrânea. Combinações comuns: 'road tunnel', 'railway tunnel', 'tunnel entrance' e 'go through a tunnel'. Também pode ser verbo: 'to tunnel through rock' significa escavar um túnel na rocha.
