地下や山の中、水の下などに作られた、車や人、電車などが通るための長い通路です。

通常は地下や山の中の通路を指します。「道路トンネル」「鉄道トンネル」「トンネルの入口」などの表現があります。動詞として「トンネルを掘る」とも使われます。
