Definition

النفق ممر طويل يُبنى تحت الأرض أو عبر تلّ أو تحت الماء لكي تمرّ من خلاله الناس أو السيارات أو القطارات أو المياه.

Usage Notes (Arabic)

تُستعمل الكلمة غالبًا للدلالة على ممرّ مادي تحت الأرض. من التركيبات الشائعة: 'road tunnel' و 'railway tunnel' و 'tunnel entrance' و 'go through a tunnel'. ويمكن أن تأتي فعلًا أيضًا: 'to tunnel through rock' يعني حفر نفق في الصخر.

مرّ القطار عبر **نفق** طويل.

There is a tunnel under the river.

يوجد **نفق** تحت النهر.

The rabbit made a tunnel in the ground.
