腫瘍（しゅよう）

Definition

体の中で細胞が異常に増殖し、しこりや腫れをつくるもの。良性（ガンではない）か悪性（ガン）かがあります。

「腫瘍」は医学用語です。「良性腫瘍」はガンではなく、「悪性腫瘍」はガンです。日常会話にはあまり使われず、医療現場でよく使われます。

The doctor found a tumor in her lung.

医者が彼女の肺に**腫瘍**を見つけた。

A tumor can be benign or malignant.

**腫瘍**は良性の場合も悪性の場合もあります。

He needs surgery to remove the tumor.
