ある言語から別の言語に話し言葉や文章を移し替える行為。

結果よりも過程を指すことが多い語です。「translating a book」や「translating from Spanish to English」などによく使われます。口頭にも書面にも使いますが、口頭専用の場合は“interpreting”がより正式です。
