「trace」の過去形で、物事の起源や経路、原因を突き止めたり、絵の線をなぞって写し取ったりすること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

犯罪捜査や原因調査、芸術（例：'traced the drawing'）などで使う。'traced back'は過去や元をたどる時によく使う。
