塔

Definition

幅よりも高さがある細長い建物や構造物で、支えや見張り、通信などのために使われるもの。

「towers」は「tower」の複数形。実際の建物だけでなく、比喩的に力や支えを表す場面にも使われます。「携帯電話の塔」「教会の塔」などの表現に多く登場します。幅広い建物には使いません。

The city has many tall towers.

その街には高い**塔**がたくさんあります。

We saw two clock towers in the town square.
