'Obor' biasanya untuk tongkat berapi (tradisional); 'senter' untuk senter listrik (modern), terutama di Inggris. Di Amerika, biasanya disebut 'flashlight'. Sering muncul pada frasa seperti 'obor Olimpiade', 'membawa obor'.
