Definition

音や声、話し方の感じや雰囲気を指します。また、色合いや文章・会話・状況の全体的な雰囲気も意味します。

「tone」は「volume（音量）」とは異なり話し手の感情や態度を表します。「tone of voice」「skin tone」「set the tone」などよく使われます。「formal tone」「friendly tone」も執筆や会話で使います。

Her tone was kind and calm.
