雷のように非常に大きな音を立てること。または、非常に力強いものや迫力のあるものを表すときにも使う。

「thundering applause」や「thundering voice」のように比喩的にも使われます。会話より書き言葉でよく使われ、強いインパクトを与えたい時に使います。
