Definition

雷とは、雷雨の時に空で聞こえる大きな音です。稲妻によって発生します。また、力強く低い音にも使われます。

天気や嵐の場面で名詞として使われることが多いです。「hear thunder」「a clap of thunder」「thunderstorm」のような表現で使います。「thunder」（音）と「lightning」（光）を混同しないよう注意しましょう。

I heard thunder last night.

昨夜、**雷**が聞こえました。

The dog is scared of thunder.
