重く鈍い音が繰り返し続くこと。何かが床に落ちたり、心臓が激しく打つときの音など。

「ドンドン」は鋭い音ではなく、重くて鈍い印象。足音や心臓の鼓動、重い物が落ちるときによく使われます。小説や物語の雰囲気作りにもよく使われます。
