液体やソースなどがより濃くなる時に使う言葉。また、状況が複雑になることを比喩的にも表す。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

料理の時や「the plot thickens」（話が複雑になる）など物語で使う慣用表現。物の物理的な厚みでは使わない。

The soup thickens as it cooks.

スープは煮ると**濃くなる**。

When you add flour, the sauce thickens.
