「自分たち自身」は、人や物の集団が自分たち自身に何かをする時や、強調したい時に使う代名詞です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

常に複数の主語（たとえば「彼ら」など）と一緒に使います。『by themselves』（自分たちだけで）、『for themselves』（自分たちのために）や強調するときよく使います。主語としては使いません。
