物事がうまくいったり、悪いことを避けられた時に、安堵や感謝の気持ちを表すときに使います。

多くは文頭に使われます。'thankfully'は'fortunately'と似ていますが、より感謝や安堵のニュアンスが強いです。口語・文章どちらでも使います。
