何か良いことがあった時や誰かに何かしてもらった時に感じる感謝の気持ちを表します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

『thankful』は『thanks』よりも心がこもった表現です。『for』と一緒によく使われます（例：thankful for your help）。感謝祭などの行事でも使われます。『grateful』とも似ていますが微妙にニュアンスが異なります。
