用來引出兩個事物或人之間比較的第二部分的詞。

主要用於比較（如“比……更大”），常跟在比較級形容詞或副詞後面。不用於表示時間上的“then”。學習者常混淆“than”和“then”。

She is taller than her brother.

她比她的哥哥更高。

I like coffee more than tea.

我喜歡咖啡多於茶。

This car is faster than that one.

這輛車比那輛車快。

I'd rather stay home than go out tonight.

我今晚寧願待在家裡，**而不是**出去。

She sings better than anyone else in the group.
