タコやイカ、クラゲなどの動物に見られる、物をつかんだり移動したりするための長くて柔らかい腕や触角のことです。

複数形で使い、海の生き物に使うことが多いですが、「組織のtentacles」のように影響力が広がる様子を比喩的にも使います。
