「Syne」は、スコットランドや古い英語で「それ以来」「前に」を意味する詩や歌によく現れる表現です。

現代英語ではほとんど使われません。スコットランドの伝統や詩、'Auld Lang Syne' の歌などでのみ見かけます。日常会話では使いません。
