Definition
上から突然すばやく降りること、特に何かを捕まえたり攻撃したりするときに使います。急に現れる、予期せず行動する意味でも使われます。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
猛禽類などの鳥によく使われるが、人や物事に対しても突然の行動を表す時に使う。'swoop down' は「急降下する」イメージ。比喩的にも用いる。堅苦しくない表現。
