次に何が起こるかわからないという興奮や不安な気持ち。物語や映画でよく見られる。

サスペンスは映画や小説などで先の展開がわからない緊張や期待感に使う。「サスペンスを高める」「サスペンスがある」などの表現がよく使われる。「驚き」や「単なる緊張感」とは異なる。
