ルールや予定、一般的な期待に基づいて、何かをすることになっている、またはそうだと信じられている状態。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

たいてい “supposed to”のような表現で使われ、「〜しなければならない・〜するはず」の意味があります。義務や当然のことに使います。単独で動詞にはなりません。'suppose' とは意味が違うので注意。
