Definition

確かな証拠がなくても何かが本当だと思うこと、または仮の状況を考えること。

丁寧な会話や仮定の提案によく使います。「assume」よりも柔らかいニュアンスです。意見を控えめに述べる時にも用います。

I suppose it will rain tomorrow.

明日は雨が降ると**思う**。

Let’s suppose you win the lottery.

もし宝くじに当たったと**仮定しましょう**。
