Definition

「Sunk」は「sink」の過去形・過去分詞で、物が水中などに沈んだ状態を指す言葉です。比喩的に、希望や感情などが失われたときにも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に物が水に沈む場合や「the ship has sunk」のように使います。「my heart sunk」のように気持ちの落ち込みにも使われます。「落ちる」とは違い、何かが完全に見えなくなる、消えてしまうイメージです。
