実際または想像上の出来事を描写した文章や話で、楽しませたり情報を伝えたりするもの。建物の階を指すこともあります。

日常会話や文章によく使う。"tell a story"（話をする）や "make up a story"（話を作る）のような表現がある。建物の階の意味はアメリカ英語に多い。
