“Stoney” 主要指地面、道路等布滿石頭的情況，也可形容人冷漠（文學或正式場合）。常與“stony”（標準拼寫）混淆，尤其在英國地名中常見。“stoney” 不表示“吸毒嗨了”（那是“stoned”）。
