飢餓とは、長期間十分な食べ物が得られず、深刻な弱りや死に至る状態です。

この言葉は生命にかかわる深刻な食糧不足を指します。「お腹がすいた」という軽い意味では使いません。医療や人道的な話題でよく使われます。
