スタンバイ待機

Definition

必要なときにすぐ使えるよう待機している人や物、または待機状態を指します。家電の待機モードや、空きがあれば搭乗できるチケットにも使われます。

'on standby'は旅行、電子機器、緊急時などによく使います。'standby mode'（待機モード）、'standby crew'（待機要員）などがあります。'stand by'（待つ、支える）とは異なります。

The TV is on standby when the red light is on.

赤いランプが点灯しているとき、テレビは**スタンバイ**状態です。
