用來判斷某事是否可接受、良好或正常的規則、水平或準則。它既可以指正式要求，也可以指某人的個人期望。

常見搭配有 'high standards'、'meet standards'、'safety standards' 和 'living standards'。'Standards' 可以是官方且可衡量的，也可以是個人且主觀的。不要和表示「普通的、標準的」的 'standard' 混淆。

Our school has strict standards for student behavior.
