Definition

従者は中世の若者で、騎士になるために騎士に仕えながら修行をした人です。また、昔のイギリスなどでは裕福な地主や田舎の紳士を指すこともあります。

現代日本語では主に歴史や物語、小説などで登場します。「esquire」（弁護士・紳士の敬称）とは異なります。
