怒りや恨みから、誰かをわざと傷つけたり困らせたりしたい気持ちや、そのような行動。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

多くの場合「out of spite（悪意から）」という表現で使います。とても強い否定的な意味を持ち、日常会話ではあまり使われません。「despite」とは異なります。
