北の反対方向で、地図の下側に位置します。また、国や地域の南部を指すこともあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

地理・天気・旅行に関連してよく使います。特定の地域の場合は「南部（South）」と大文字で書きます。'go south'は状況が悪くなる意味もあります。
