De maneira total e profunda; normalmente usado para descrever um sono profundo e tranquilo. Também pode significar fazer algo de maneira firme ou segura.

Geralmente usado com 'sleep' ('sleep soundly'). Uso formal ou neutro. Também serve para indicar algo feito de forma completa ou eficaz ('soundly defeated'). Não confunda com 'loudly' (relacionado a volume/ruído).
