人の肉体とは別に存在する精神的な部分。物や場所の本質や感情を表す時にも使います。

宗教や詩的な文脈で使われることが多い。'the soul of the city' は「街の本質」の意味。'soul music' はジャンル名なのでそのままカタカナで表記します。
