断片きれはし

Definition

何かが破れたり、切れたりしてできた小さくて細い部分。紙や布、食べ物によく使われる。

通常は複数形で使うことが多い。'in shreds'（ボロボロに）、'shreds of evidence'（わずかな証拠）、'tear to shreds'（徹底的に批判・破壊）の表現で使われる。直訳・比喩の両方あり。

There are paper shreds on the floor.

床に紙の**断片**が落ちている。

The cheese is in small shreds.
