Definition

岸とは、海、湖、川などの水と陸が接する場所のことです。水際の土地を指します。

「shore」は海沿いに最もよく使われますが、湖や川にも使えます。「beach」は通常砂浜を指し、「coast」は広い地域を意味します。「on shore」「offshore」「come ashore」などの言い回しがあります。

We walked along the shore at sunset.
