盾（たて）

Definition

攻撃や危険から身を守るために使う道具、特に戦いで使われるもの。比喩的に「守るもの」という意味でも使う。

歴史やファンタジー文脈では物理的な盾、比喩では何かを守るものとして使う。集団や複数の場合は複数形に注意。

The soldiers carried their shields into battle.
