棚（たな）

壁や家具に設置され、物を置いたり並べたりするための平らな板。「shelves」は「棚」（たな）の複数形。

「shelves」は複数形で、単数は「shelf（棚）」です。「本棚」「棚に置く」「棚を取り付ける」などで使います。比喩的に使われる場合もあります。

There are many shelves in the library.

図書館にはたくさんの**棚**があります。
