ऐसी जगहें जहाँ लोग या जानवर ख़तरे, खराब मौसम या अस्थायी आवास से सुरक्षित रहते हैं। आमतौर पर आपातकालीन या जानवरों के लिए उपयोग होता है।

'Shelters' का अर्थ लोगों (बेघर, आपदा पीड़ित) या जानवरों के अस्थायी आश्रय से है। सामान्य वाक्यांश: 'animal shelters', 'emergency shelters', 'homeless shelters'—ये स्थायी आवास नहीं होते।
