Definition

피난처는 사람이나 동물이 위험, 나쁜 날씨, 또는 머무를 곳이 없을 때 보호받을 수 있는 곳입니다. 보호 자체를 의미하기도 합니다.

'피난처를 찾다', '피난처를 제공하다' 등으로 많이 쓰입니다. 주로 임시 보호 시설, 동물보호소, 노숙인 쉼터 같은 의미로 사용됩니다. 동사로는 '보호하다', '피난시키다'로 쓰입니다.
