粉々になる打ち砕く

Definition

物が突然細かく壊れること。比喩的に、希望や自信などが完全に失われる時にも使う。

「shatter」は普通の「壊す」よりも強く、特にガラスや感情面（例:「shatter someone's dreams」）で使われます。徐々に壊れる時には使いません。

The cup fell and shattered on the floor.

カップが落ちて床で**粉々に**なった。

The sound of glass shattering was very loud.

ガラスが**粉々に割れる**音がとても大きかった。

He shattered the window with a baseball.
