強迫某人做某事或去某地,尤其是透過欺騙或綁架。最初用來指把人強行帶到船上做苦工。

正式及歷史用語,但現今多用作比喻(例如 'shanghaied into doing' 指被強迫做某事)。和上海這城市無關,字面用法已較少見。
