"Shameful" औपचारिक और मजबूत शब्द है; इसका इस्तेमाल किसी काम या स्थिति की आलोचना के लिए होता है, किसी व्यक्ति के लिए नहीं। 'shameful act' जैसी अभिव्यक्तियों में आम है। इसे 'ashamed' (महसूस करना) से न मिलाएँ।
