軍曹は、軍や警察で下士官の中位にあたり、部下を指導・監督する役割を担います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'sergeants'は'軍曹'の複数形。軍・警察の両方で使います。会話では「軍曹 佐藤さん」のように肩書きとして使われます。「officer」（将校）や「private」（二等兵）とは区別してください。
