Definition

何かを素早く力強くつかむこと。または、法律や権力によって所有権や支配権を得ること。

法律や警察、軍隊など公式な場面でよく使われます（例：'seize the opportunity' は「チャンスをものにする」）。ゆっくりや優しく掴む場合には使いません。

The police seized the stolen car.

警察は盗難車を**押収**した。

He tried to seize her bag.
