Definition

種や種子は植物から新しい植物が育つ小さな部分、または果物の中にある固い部分を指します。

植物の場合「種・種子」を使います。「ひまわりの種」など。果物内部の硬い部分も「種」と呼び、口語で使われます。動詞で「種を取る（種を除く）」意味でも使います。

I planted a seed in the garden.

私は庭に**種**を植えました。

This seed is very small.

この**種**はとても小さいです。
