船で働く人たち、特に士官ではない一般の乗組員のこと。主に水夫を指す言葉です。

「水夫」や「船乗り」は、特に士官でない乗組員を指し、やや古風な表現です。近年は「乗組員」や「船員」の方が一般的です。「精液(せいえき)」と混同注意。単数形は「seaman(シーマン)」です。
