蠍子是一種小型動物，通常生活在乾燥地區，有八條腿、兩個大螯和一條帶有毒刺的彎曲尾巴。有些種類對人類有危險。

'蠍子'多用於動物本身的描述，也常在自然、地理或科學主題出現。不是指星座 '天蠍座'（那是另一個詞：天蠍座）。口語中有時形容危險或有毒的人。
